2023 GUEST LECTURES

Our first 2023 guest lecture featured the brilliant Alice Margaria who delivered a thought-provoking talk on surrogacy, assisted reproductive technologies, and seahorse fatherhood.
NOVA School of Law welcomed OSCE expert Pasquale Annicchino, who delivered two enriching lectures on the topics of culture wars, polygamy under EU law, and Shariaa Law.
Luís Duarte d’Almeida delivered a masterful lecture on conscientious objection as part of our first interdisciplinary lecture on law and philosophy.
Sónia Duarte Lopes delivered an enriching lecture on reproductive rights, abortion and bottom-up mobilization in Portugal.

We also planned the constitution of a task force on conscientious objection and abortion to help clarify the contours of the legal framework in Portugal.
